All the companies and legal entities registered under the Myanmar Companies Act 1914 and the Special Companies Act 1950 (“Companies”) were required to be re-registered through the Myanmar Companies Online Registry System (“MyCo”) from 1st August 2018 to 31st January 2019 (“Re-Registration Period”) per Section 421(d) of the Myanmar Companies Law 2017.
However, by the end of the Re-Registration Period, a large number of companies failed to be re-registered. Therefore, on 8th March 2019, the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (“DICA”) announced that the Companies failed to be re-registered within the Re-Registration Period for any reason can still file application for restoration of their names in the Companies Registry and pay the restoration fees to DICA within 30th March 2019 (“Extended Period”) pursuant to Clause 4(d) of the Myanmar Companies Regulations 2018. Otherwise, such Companies will be permanently struck off from the Companies Registry. No restoration will be allowed after the Extended Period.
